- Skansie Brothers Park
Skansie Brothers Park is a 2.59-acre park located in the heart of downtown Gig Harbor. Acquired in 2002 as an expansion to the Jerisich Public Dock site, this park is host to the Maritime Gig Festival, Holiday Tree Lighting, summer concert series and many other community events throughout the year.
The park is named after the four Croatian Skansie brothers. All were fishermen in Gig Harbor near the turn of the 20th Century. The brothers created Skansie Boat Building Company located adjacent to the Andrew Skansie family home (1908) located within the park. The Skansie family sold the historic brick house and netshed to the City in 2002.
Amenities include the Historic Skansie Brothers House, Historic Skansie Brothers Netshed, scenic views, a small grassy area, on-street parking, a covered pavilion and a Welcome Plaza complete with restrooms, showers and more. The restrooms are open from 5am-10pm. The Fishermen's Memorial is dedicated to Gig Harbor fishermen who's lives were lost at sea. The splash pad/water feature is typically on during summer months from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., except on concert nights.
