Concealed Pistol License
Gig Harbor Residents
The issuing of Original Concealed Pistol Licenses is by appointment only on Tuesdays and Thursdays for Gig Harbor City residents. A link to the appointment calendar is found below.
The issuing of Renewal/Replacement Concealed Pistol Licenses are accepted Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm on a walk-in basis. We will need your government issued identification and the Concealed Pistol License you are renewing.
Fingerprints are not required on Concealed Pistol License Renewals or Replacements. A Concealed Pistol License can be renewed 90 days before or 90 days after expiration, without the need for fingerprints. If the license is more than 90 days past expiration then you will need to apply for an original license, which will require fingerprints.
Concealed Pistol Licenses are issued through the Gig Harbor Police Department, providing that you reside within the city limits of Gig Harbor. If you are a Gig Harbor resident who is 21 years of age or older and choose to apply for a license through the Gig Harbor Police Department, an application must be completed, and fingerprints taken by appointment only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
If you are not a resident of the State of Washington, and you wish to obtain a Washington State Concealed Pistol License, you can apply at any Police Department in the state. If this is an Original License you will need to make an appointment for fingerprints. If it is an Renewal then you can come in from 8am to 4pm.
If your drivers license does not reflect your current Gig Harbor address you can either update your address with the Department of Licensing on their website https://www.dol.wa.gov/ or bring in proof of current address. Proof can be anything from a third party with your name and current address, e.g. bill, registration, rental agreement, military paperwork, etc.
If you are a Washington State resident, the time period required for a background check is 30 days. If you are not a resident of Washington State or have lived in the state for less than 90 consecutive days, the waiting period is 60 days.
