The Gig Harbor Police Department C.O.P.S. Volunteers offer free vacation checks of your residence while you are away for three weeks or less.  Please verify that you live inside the city limits of Gig Harbor in order to qualify for this service. Then, complete a Residential Vacation Check Request Form and return it to the Gig Harbor Police Department in person or via fax 253-851-2399.

The Residential Vacation Check program is not the only thing you should do to protect your home while you are away. 

·       Inform a trusted neighbor to watch your housewhile you are gone.  Leave contact phone numbers with them.

·       Don’t allow newspapers or mail to accumulate inview.  Contact the U.S. Postal Service to stop mail delivery.

·       Remove garage door openers from vehicles parkedin the driveway.

·       Have someone mow your lawn.

·       Put interior lights on a timer and leave a radioon a talk show channel.
