[ARCHIVED] Notice of Public Hearing: 2024 Gig Harbor Comprehensive Plan Update

The City of Gig Harbor is in the final stages of updating its comprehensive plan for the 2024-2044 planning horizon. This update, conducted over the last two years, addresses future population, housing and employment growth for the community. Key components of this update are:

  • Encouraging housing diversity
  • Accommodating projected growth
  • Assessing potential impacts to roadways and other infrastructure
  • Local actions towards addressing protection of the environment and cultural resources.

Gig Harbor engaged the community over the past two years including public meetings, community presentations and individual discussions with stakeholders and neighborhoods. The planning commission held a public hearing in November 2024 and made a recommendation for council consideration. Over the last three months, council has reviewed these recommendations and made several revisions. The final draft comprehensive plan and land use map can be found at https://www.gigharborwa.gov/785/2044-Comprehensive-Plan-Update as well as a revisions matrix that describes the changes and additions made during council discussions.

Council will be holding a public hearing to receive testimony on the revised documents at their upcoming evening meeting:

5:30PM
Gig Harbor Civic Center, Council Chambers
